Adult Primary Care
The Clinic provides comprehensive primary care services to poor and uninsured adults. Primary health care includes medications, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up care and laboratory tests.
Women’s Health
The program provides obstetrics and gynecological visits, including breast and cervical cancer screenings, contraceptive services and counseling. The cornerstone of the program is prenatal care with a full package of services including medical care, health education, mental health and support services.
Pediatrics
Pediatric care provides more than 5,000 children with a full range of medical, mental health, developmental and family support services. Well-child care offers immunizations, preventative care, and developmental assessments.
Teen Services - Robert Levine Family Health Center/Culver City Youth Health Center/Santa Monica High School
A full range of teen health services are provided at school-based clinics in Culver City and Santa Monica and at the Robert Levine Family Health Center near Venice High School. Services include comprehensive primary care including physicals and reproductive health care, diagnostic testing and medications, health education, mental health services, and weight management.
Public Health Insurance
Our Public Health Insurance Program increases access to health care for eligible low-income families. The cornerstone of the program is educating patients to understand why they should have insurance and how to use it.
Asthma
The asthma program provides medical, educational and support services designed to enhance self-care and improve control, while reducing the costly and vicious cycle of emergency room visits. The program implements case management to children and adults through an electronic registry.
Diabetes
With the assistance of a multi-disciplinary team, patients learn the causes and consequences of diabetes, the methods of how to monitor blood sugar levels, and the importance of good nutrition and physical exercise.
Cardiology
The Cardiology Program provides both primary and specialty care for patients with active heart disease, including cardiac diagnostic services from cardiologists and in-kind donors. The Larry King Cardiac Foundation provides patients with surgeries at Cedars-Sinai Hospital.
Vision Care
The Vision Care Program at the Glorya Kaufman Eye Clinic provides screening, diagnosis, treatment, case coordination and prescription glasses. Screening services are provided by a telemedicine program affiliated with the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA.
Dental Care
Staff physicians and volunteer UCLA dental residents screen both children and their parents during medical visits, perform fluoride varnishes on children as needed, and refer patients appropriately. The Clinic’s staff dental team provides adult dental care, including exams, x-rays, cleanings, root canals, and fillings, as well as referrals to UCLA Venice Dental Center for molar root canals and crowns. Children are referred to UCLA pediatric dental residents.
Health Education Promotion and Community Outreach
The program enhances patients’ health care through education about nutrition, disease management, reproductive counseling, prenatal care, child safety, pediatric literacy, teen health, dental health and substance abuse education.
Pharmacy
Pharmaceutical Services dispense approximately 100,000 prescriptions annually to uninsured patients. Dispensaries provide $6 million in prescription drugs obtained at no cost from the pharmaceutical industry’s patient assistance programs.
HIV
The HIV program provides medical services and treatment for HIV-infected patients as well as anonymous HIV testing, counseling and outreach to the community.
Mental Health/Social Work
Our mental health program provides Clinic patients with counseling and psychiatric services as well as psychosocial support related to the social stress of poverty, homelessness, unemployment and domestic violence. Services include crisis intervention as well as individual, family, and group therapy.
Domestic Violence
The Safe Families Domestic Violence Intervention Program serves over 200 women a year, providing individual and group counseling, advocacy and emergency medical care. The program also serves children who witness violence between their parents.
Children First
Children First is a comprehensive child development program designed to improve the quality of life for young children by strengthening families through intensive case management, parent education, and parent empowerment.
Child Development Case Management
The mission of our pediatric child development program is to ensure that all children have access to the support they need to achieve healthy development. We identify the needs of children and their families and develop treatment and action plans that consider their unique set of circumstances.
Health, Wellness and Integrative Medicine Program
The Simms/Mann Health and Wellness Center features programs that teach people to manage their own health through obesity prevention and management for age two through adult, diabetes and chronic pain management, nutrition counseling and stress management. The Center’s staff includes a health and wellness coordinator, social workers, integrative medicine physicians, and acupuncture, chiropractic and osteopathic clinicians.
